Label- Can I send you a promo CD of our band for possible release on Fire and Flames?
Yes! We are always excited to recieve promo CDs, and you will definitely get an answer back from us. That said, when deciding if sending us a CD is a good use of your and our time, please keep the following in mind:
-PLEASE read the section of this FAQ about what we base our decision to release a band on.
-Dont get your hopes up! We are a small label, and the 10 or so bands with which we work are already enough to keep our budget stretched and us very busy.
-Rarely will we accept to just release a CD/LP without a further relationship to a band. Fire and Flames Music is a family, and we aim for long-term relationships with our bands and a mutual desire to work together.
-If you can only find the energy to send a loveless, generic, mass mail pointing us to your poorly presented and uninspired Myspace page, chances are pretty good that we wont even be able to find the energy to write you back and tell you how shitty your band is. close - How do you decide which bands to release?
Fire and Flames Music is a label with a very clear political identity. Our aim is not only to release good music, but to release good music with a message we can support.
Most of us involved with Fire and Flames feel comfortable with a rough categorization under "anarchist," but we are aware of the fact that we are running a cultural project and not a strictly political organization. Therefore, we are generally willing to work with bands that fall somewhere under the umbrella of anti-state and left leaning.
Nobody wants to listen to shitty music with a good message, and we dont want to support good music with no message. The secret is in the balance... close - Is Fire and Flames Music strictly a punk/oi/ska label or are you also open to other musical subcultures?
Fire and Flames Music is a reflection of our political and subcultural influences. Since we come from the Redskin scene, there is naturally an over-representation of the musical style associated with this scene.
That said, we believe firmly in the importance of making radical antifascist and anti-authoritarian politics attractive to a widest possible audience. Important is the message, and not the beat.
close Ordering- Do I have to login to order?
NO
There are two boxes on the top right side of the screen ("login" and "username"), these are however *only* for shops and distros.
For safety reasons, we do not keep any sort of user accounts online.
This means that you have to re-enter all your information every time you order, but on the other hand, it also means that if we were ever to be hacked...your personal information is nowhere to be found on our server.
We only keep your order in our system until it has been sent. After that, it is immediately erased. The only information we keep is the invoice (which we are required to do by law), but all this is stored safely offline. close - How Long Do You Usually Take to Deliver?
Inside Germany, we ship our orders with DPD. Normally, an order will be shipped 1-3 days after payment has been made. DPD normally delivers orders the day after they have been sent, although sometimes it takes two days.
However, since we distribute very many items which are not of our own production, it does happen that we sometimes are not in control of delivery times, as we have to wait for re-orders from other distributions, labels, or clothing lines to arrive. Therefore, sometimes you just need to patient!
Usually, in such situations you will recieve a call or an email from us informing you of the delay. close - I live outside of Germany and want to make a small order, is there any way to get lower shipping costs?
Yes!
Our system calculates the standard minimum price for a DPD package. However, if your order is not very large (2-3 CDs, some shirts, buttons, patches, etc.) it is also possible to send it via normal post as a "letter." This costs, depending on the size of the package and the country, between 4,00 EUR and 10,00 EUR.
If you would like this option, just send us an email after sending your order, and we will send you a confirmation with the total to pay, including the reduced shipping price.
VERY IMPORTANT: Packages sent as "letters," are NOT INSURED. So...order at your own risk! close - I wish to return an item which I ordered (either because it does not fit correctly, or simply because it is not too my liking), is this possible and how do I do it?
Returning items is no problem, as long as it is done within a two week period and the items are unwashed and not damaged in any way.
In cases where an item of clothing does not fit correctly, please just send it back to our address, together with a note with your order number and/or invoice number, as well as the desired exchange item.
Some important notes to make the exchange process faster and easier:
-Send us an email first, so that we know to expect your package, and also so we can tell you if the item you wish to have in exchange is available.
-Unfortunately, for exchanges, you have to pay the resulting extra shipping costs. Inside Germany, this usually means we will ask you to put 5 EUR inside the package. For shipments outside of Germany, it is best to arrange the shipping price per email.
We can only pay the extra costs in cases where items are defective in some way, or where we made a packing error.
-Please do not send us packages where we have to pay the shipping on arrival. They are extremely expensive, and we will not accept them.
If you still have any questions, dont hesitate to send us an email. close Quality- Are your T-Shirts/Sweatshirts/Hoodies free of animal products?
All materials from our t-shirts/sweats/hoods are 100% Vegan. This includes not only the textile, but also of course the inks used to print the shirts. Our inks are also free of "heavy metals" and other possibly unhealthy materials. close - Are your textiles fair trade?
As far as our T-Shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies are concerned, we use almost exclusively "Gildan" textiles (exception being when a particular size or color is currently not available). While very certainly not an ideal standard, we find that, at least to the extent of our knowledge, Gildan is far above the industry standard in their labor practices. What Gildan themselves have to say about their labor practices, you can read here.
One example of an external review of Gildans labor practices can be found here. Furthermore, Gildan is accredited by the Fair Labor Association.
Finally, Gildan produces its textiles in Latin America, which is certainly a plus point in our eyes.
As far as Fire and Flames textiles are concerned, we work with movement related and/or independent textile workshops/and factories whenever possible. In cases where we work with "normal" factories or workshops, we place a high priority on seeing "ethical workplace" certificates, as well as information regarding work hours, overtime pay, wages, and so forth.
Finally, a significant portion of our embroidered materials are embroidered at an independent workshop directly in the city of Göttingen itself. close
